The 2011 Rich Shafer Memorial Crow Mountain Hill Climb is sponsored by Cool Shirt in honor of our friend who gave so much of himself to the sport of hill climbing. Without Rich's backing and pushing, SEDIV TT would not be where it is today. We would like to thank Cool Shirt for their sponsorship of this event and their support to the SEDIV Time Trials Championship Series. 2011 Crow Mountain is also sponsored by Twickenham Auto Club and Van Cleef Racing.
The seventh running of the Crow Mountain Hillclimb is now in the books. The weather was possibly the best ever in our seven years of doing this event. Cool mornings, no fog, warm sunny days to heat up the pavement. The road had its usual challenges and certainly gets the driver's attention but no one bent any sheet metal. Five new CMHC course record were set this weekend. Heikki Rinta-Koski was the King of The Hill running a spectacular 114.224 in his turbo Miata powered Locost 7. This time not only bested the long standing course record in SPO but also made him the second fastest driver ever up the hill. Robert McManus and his Camaro lowered his ESP record to a 123.549. Barry Durham drove his Crossle Club Ford to a new CF record in 133.556. John Kilgore set the SU record of 134.643 with his BMW. Vintage Open was set by Dan Chesanow in a Venus FV at 161.968. Who says the Hill is getting slower?
