Car: BBR Shark (Bowland Boys Racing) built in 2001, designed by my son Todd and built by me. This is the fourth car we have built for Autocross/Hillclimb since 1984. Powered by a three cylinder two stroke 1050cc Snowmobile motor built by John Hooper Race Engines in New Hampshire.

Class: A- Mod

Awards: I own five Solo National Championships and two Pro Solo National Championships with these cars and Todd has one of each.

I also have broken the overall hill records at five hillclimbs, and still hold three of those records. My last record was set in May 2004 at the Blueridge Hillclimb in Sparta, NC.

I ran Chimney Rock from 1983 through the final event in 1995. I broke the overall record in 1993, only to see Jerry Kieft take it back in 1994 by one tenth of a second.

Site Endorsement: Crow Mountain is an outstanding hill, and there is no doubt in my mind that it is the best site of any currently running in the US. It combines both high speed and very technical sections. It will take several years to get it right due to the complicated nature of the many turns. That factor will provide many new records each year. The hill also lends itself to cars that are light and have high aerodynamic downforce.
